January 23, 2015                   FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Fulton, NY)...In just a short period of time, speedways throughout the Northernmost part of the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series region have individually taken steps to sanction their Crate Late Model divisions under the RUSH banner.  Series directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone are proud to announce that Fulton Speedway, located in Fulton, NY, will sanction its weekly Saturday night Late Model program in 2015.  Also, nearby sister speedway, Brewerton, will host one Sweeney Weekly Series event.  This brings the total a group of six speedways throughout central New York and Ontario, Canada that now will offer Crate Late Model racers the opportunity to take part in all of the series valuable championship programs.

Newly-sanctioned Brighton Speedway and Humberstone Speedway, a two-year partner of RUSH and, both are weekly speedways on Saturday and Sunday nights in Ontario, Canada.  Also, Merrittville Speedway, another Ontario speedway, will host its first ever Crate Late Model event on Monday, May 18.  The Sweeney RUSH Tour event will pay $2,000 to-win in conjunction with their traditional Victoria Day DIRT "358" Modified Series event.  New Freedom Motorsports Park promoter, Bob Reis, has rejoined Freedom under the RUSH banner on Friday nights.  This continues to add to the very strong group of group of respected speedways and promoters throughout this part of the RUSH region.

"Everything in its time and place," stated Emig.  "I believe that John Wight and his manager Cory Reed's decision to join RUSH couldn't have come at a better time.  "I've known both John and Cory for years and have respected and watched their efforts in building their own Crate Late Model division at Fulton.  I had always hoped that someday they would give Mike and I an opportunity to work with them and bring all of the exciting programs we have developed for RUSH to their racers and I cannot tell you how excited we are to include them and the surrounding crate late model speedways into our program."

RUSH member racers will be able to participate at Fulton (and the event at Brewerton) in 2015 and be eligible for all of the programs including the Sweeney Weekly Series Championship, the Pace Performance Summer Chase, along with the Bilstein Bandits and the “Futures Cup” for those eligible racers.  While membership is not mandatory to compete in any RUSH-sanctioned event, membership will again include a $100,000 excess participant accident policy which is over and above drivers’ health insurance and speedways’ participant accident policy.

"Joining RUSH unifies the Late Model class in our region under a single rule and sanctioning package," expressed Fulton/Brewerton GM Cory Reed.   "We admire the job the RUSH team has done in the Northeast and know it is the best direction for the growth and stability of the class at Fullerton and Brewerton."

Fulton Speedway introduced crate powered Late Models in 2009, when track owner John Wight purchased the track.  Since then over 80 feature events have been run with Dale Caswell capturing three track championships along the way.  Competitors from both the Sportsman and IMCA Modified ranks have migrated to the class, particularly over this off-season.  A solid field of weekly competitors is expected in 2015 now under the RUSH banner.

With the tremendous growth over the past several months throughout this part of the region, RUSH will have a display and be available to meet racers and fans at the 29th Annual Motorsports Exposition and Trade Show to be held Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 at the Center of Progress Building at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York.  A RUSH informational seminar will also be conducted at 6 p.m. on Saturday night and open to all interested parties.

Founded in 1961 initially as a pavement track, the 3/8-mile Fulton Speedway has hosted weekly auto races for over 50 years.  The track converted to dirt in the 1970s and runs weekly on Saturday nights from early May through Labor Day with occasional mid-week specials.  The track’s signature event, the Outlaw 200 weekend, is held the first weekend in October annually. Weekly classes include Big-Block Modifieds, Sportsman, Novice Sportsman and 4-Cylinders in addition to the Sweeney RUSH Late Model class.
