GENESEE SPEEDWAY SIGNS 3-YR CONTRACT WITH RUSH LATE MODELS FOR SWEENEY WEEKLY SERIES RACING; SERIES CONTINUES STRONG MOMENTUM THROUGHOUT NY

November 27, 2015               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Batavia, NY)...Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series powered by Pace Performance Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone are thrilled to welcome Genesee Speedway into the fold for 2016.  The 3/8-mile track in Batavia, New York signed a three-year contract to feature the RUSH Late Models in Sweeney Weekly Series action on Saturday nights!

The lease of the Genesee County Fairground oval has been taken over by racer Jim Johnson and will be co-promoted by Mike Fisher, who both said they are looking forward to their partnership with RUSH.  Genesee was operated in recent years by the Mazur Family under the name of Raceway 5.  In fact, the first ever RUSH Late Model event was held in August with Randy Hall picking up the Sweeney Weekly Series event win.  Beginning with opening night on May 7, Genesee will feature the RUSH Late Models on a weekly basis for the first time ever.  Genesee will fit in perfectly in the western New York region with Friday night's Freedom Speedway (Delevan, NY) located 50 miles south and Sunday night's Humberstone Speedway (Port Colborne, ON) located 65 miles west.

"The growth of RUSH Late Models throughout New York and Ontario, Canada has been very exciting to see," stated Emig.  "It's no secret that Modifieds dominated the region over the years, but slowly Late Model racing has made inroads, and we were very pleased to get all of these tracks under the RUSH banner as well as the Go Nuclear Series aligning with our rules package.  The addition of Genesee furthers this growth into a new pocket in the northwestern part of New York and will be an important piece in helping to  grow car counts at Freedom and Humberstone.   With the announcement by Genesee, numerous drivers have already stated their intention to move into the RUSH Late Model division."

RUSH member racers will be able to participate at Genesee in 2016 and be eligible for all of the programs including the Sweeney Weekly Series Championship, the Pace Performance “Summer Chase”, along with the Bilstein Bandits and the “Futures Cup” for those eligible racers.  Also, member racers will battle for the "Track Pack Bonus" with $300 going to the driver that accumulates the most RUSH points at Genesee, $200 to second, $150 for third, $100 for fourth, and $50 for fifth.  Contingency prizes will then be posted for those racers in sixth through eighth in the RUSH member points.  While membership is not mandatory to compete in any RUSH-sanctioned event, membership also include a $100,000 excess participant accident policy, which is over and above drivers’ health insurance and speedways’ participant accident policy.

Genesee Speedway is located off Route 5 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds at 5056 E Main Street Rd, Batavia, NY 14020.  For more information, check out their website at genesee-speedway.com and like them on Facebook by searching Genesee Speedway.
