(Erie, PA)...After outlasting the rain on Saturday night at Stateline Speedway for the "Bill Law Memorial", Mother Nature had the upper hand on Sunday evening at Eriez Speedway for the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series powered by Pace Performance.  Some sprinkles and light showers teased fans and racers during RUSH qualifying and heat race action for Eriez's other regular divisions; however, the intensity of the rain picked up before the first RUSH heat race, which would ultimately wash out the event.

After consulting with Eriez owner Dave Alexander, the $2,000 to-win Sweeney Tour Marquee event has now been rescheduled for Sunday, June 2.  This will make for a huge three-event weekend that will kick-off on Friday, May 31 at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the "Gary Montgomery Memorial" followed up on Saturday night at Genesee Speedway in Batavia, NY, concluding with Eriez on Sunday allowing the large contingent of southwest Pennsylvania Tour teams to catch the event on the way home.

For the second straight night, Scott Gurdak set fast time during FK Rod Ends "Shock the Clock" Qualifying.  The June 2 Eriez event will be a complete new program with everything starting from scratch including a new pill draw; however, per RUSH Tour Procedures with the pill draw closed on Sunday, all Tour member teams received the 70 show-up points.  Rain checks will be honored and drivers' entry fees will be applied to this event.  The Zarin Truck & Automotive "$500 Club" drawings co-sponsored by Turn 4 Bar & Grill in Orwell, Ohio took place as the following drivers received $100: Kyle Zimmerman, Scott Gurdak, Matt Latta, Breyton Santee, and Paul Norman.

"We have to thank Mr. Alexander for allowing us the opportunity to come back," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig.  "Our Tour car counts have been up for every event this season even including Sunday with an 80% chance of rain at race time that kept several teams from making the trip.  This will now set up a huge weekend of Touring action two weeks from now and allow our southwest Pennsylvania teams to catch this show on the way home."
