RAIN POSTPONES SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODEL TOURING SERIES EVENT THURSDAY AT MCKEAN TO JUNE 14; 2-DAY BILL EMIG MEMORIAL UP NEXT SAT & SUN AT SHARON

(East Smethport, PA)…Despite a forecast of 80% chance of storms throughout the day on Thursday, other than one brief afternoon downpour, McKean County Raceway was spared of the heavy thunderstorms that went all around the East Smethport, Pa. oval.  However, around 6 p.m. a line of storms that appeared to be heading northeast, changed directions to eastward hitting the speedway hard and rained out what was to be race #2 on the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series.  The event has been rescheduled to Friday, June 14.  A Sweeney Weekly Series event will take place the following day on Saturday.

Focus now shifts to Sharon Speedway as the Hartford, Ohio oval will host the Bill Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend” this Saturday and Sunday night.  Each night will feature the Touring Series in a $1,500 to-win complete show.  The $100 to-win John Buzzard Memorial K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dashes will be held each night to determine the beginning of the feature lineup.  In addition, a $1,500 point fund will be paid to the top five drivers from their cumulative point and card draw total.

Also, with the rainout at McKean, the ARbodies nose kit will now be awarded to the first non-qualifier Saturday as part of the “Nosed Out” contingency program.  Then on Sunday, TurboStart Batteries will award one lucky driver a 16-volt racing battery.  Drivers will get one chance per night competed.  Racing begins at 7 p.m. each night.
