TRIPLEHEADER WEEKEND FOR HOVIS RUSH LATE MODEL FLYNN'S TIRE TOUR; OUTLAW FRIDAY FOR "GARY MONTGOMERY MEMORIAL" FOLLOWED BY GENESEE SATURDAY & BRADFORD SUNDAY

By Mike Leone

May 24, 2022                        FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)...After a weekend off following a successful two-night swing at Stateline and Eriez Speedways, the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Model Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants will return to action this weekend for a Flynn's Tire Touring Series tripleheader!  Race #6 of the richest season in Series history will be at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY on Friday night (May 27) with warm-ups at 7 p.m. followed by race #7 on Saturday night at Genesee Speedway in Batavia, NY with warm-ups at 5:45 p.m. and then race #8 on Sunday night at Bradford (PA) Speedway with warm-ups at 5:15 p.m.  All three races will pay $3,000 to-win this year!

Friday night at Outlaw will be the fourth annual "Gary Montgomery Memorial" honoring a man that was synonymous with racing all over the Upstate New York State Region.  After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Montgomery passed away in November 2016 and left behind a loving family that will be invited back to Outlaw to help present the trophy to the winner of the event.

In 2017, longtime "360" Late Model competitor, Bryce Davis, claimed the victory over a stellar field of drivers including many that competed in Montgomery’s former 360 Can Am Series.  Davis went on to win the 2017 Touring Series Championship.  In 2018 and 2019, it was another former "360" Late Model competitor, Jeremy Wonderling, winning one of the season's best races and he too ironically went on to win the Touring Series Championship both of those years.  The 2020 event was lost to the COVID-19 pandemic and last year's show was rained out.  Could this year continue the streak of the winner going on to win the championship!?  Back on April 16 at Outlaw, Chad Homan won a $1,750 RUSH Weekly Series special.

“Gary Montgomery was a pretty special man," stated Outlaw owner Tyler Siri.  "He had a very big presence wherever he went either as a top notch announcer, track manager, or series promoter.  Gary was Glenn Donnelly’s confidant at the DIRT Motorsports Organization and later went on to promote his own series, the BRP Can AM 360 Late Models.  It is a privilege for us to again honor his legacy with a night named in his behalf."

Saturday will move about 100 miles northwest to Genesee Speedway.  The Batavia, NY fairground track under the first year promotion of RUSH Late Model racer Kurt Stebbins and his wife Bonnie will host their first of three appearances by the Touring Series.  John Waters won the first ever Tour race at the track in 2017, while Jason Genco swept both shows in 2018 before Jeremy Wonderling was victorious in 2019.  No Tour event was held in 2020 due to COVID-19.  Waters and Wonderling then added their second Genesee Tour wins last year.  On September 25 for the third scheduled show of 2021, rain hit after qualifying was completed for the Genesee record 30-car field.

Genesee has fought Mother Nature in 2022, but has still completed four RUSH Weekly Series events with four different winners including Doug Ricotta, Wonderling, Bill Holmes, and Homan.  The Tour will return to Genesee on September 23-24 for back-to-back $3,000 to-win complete shows as part of the "Topless Nationals".

The Quality Inn & Suites Palm Island Indoor Waterpark in Batavia is the "Official Hotel" of the 2022 Flynn's Tire Touring Series events at Genesee Speedway.  The hotel is located directly off the I-90 Batavia exit just six miles from Genesee Speedway at 250 Park Road, Batavia, NY, 14020.  Hotel management is offering a tremendously discounted rate of just $65/night plus tax for each night during these weekends for RUSH teams and fans.  To book a reservation, call 585-344-2100 and ask for the $65 RUSH rate for Genesee Speedway.  The hotel has plenty of truck parking for race teams.

Everyone will head 90 miles south on Sunday to Bradford Speedway as the 1/4-mile bullring will host their first RUSH Tour show since their one and only event back in 2017 won by Bryce Davis with a thrilling last lap pass of Waters.  Bradford is in its third season promoted by former RUSH Late Model racer Dennis Cummings.  Bradford will have its pits open on Saturday night for teams that would like to make the trip after Genesee.  After raining out last Sunday night, Bradford will swing open its gates for the first time in 2022 this Sunday night.

Bradford's race is a Platinum Event designation- the first of three scheduled in 2022.  Platinum Events allow Tour members the opportunity to use the event to replace their worst Tour finish or give Tour members that have or will miss a Tour show in 2021 the opportunity to use the event as a replacement Marquee Event.

Virginia's Logan Roberson enters the weekend as the Flynn's Tire Tour points leader thanks to three wins in the first five events including $3,000 victories at Potomac, Winchester, and most recently Eriez Speedway.  Joe Warren won the 2022 opener at Delaware International, while Joe Martin won the Stateline event.  Roberson has a 25-point lead on Martin, while brothers Brady and Jeremy Wonderling are third and fourth in points.  Completing the top 10 in points are Breyton Santee, Matt Latta, Andy Michael, Jonathan Stockdale, Ashton Briggs, and Brandt Graham.

Each night this weekend will include $100 FK Rod Ends "Shock the Clock" Qualifying and $25 to-win heat races capped off by 30-lap $3,000 to-win, $250 to-start feature events.  There will be a $200 to-win, $150 to-start non-qualifier at Outlaw and Genesee, while Sunday's non-qualifier will have an increased payoff with $300 to-win due to an 18-car feature starting field (plus provisionals) at Bradford.

"We're looking forward to three big nights over Memorial Day weekend," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig.  "These shows are a great opportunity for our northern racers to compete in Tour shows.  The Outlaw shows have been tremendous in the past; some of our best racing.  The Stebbins have taken over from where the Johnson Family has left off at Genesee and their small track always offers competitive racing.  We have to thank Dennis Cummings for his support of RUSH running both the Late Models and Pro Mods weekly for the third straight year.  Bradford's small size and unique configuration will provide a challenge for our Tour racers."

Each night will include $100 "Shock the Clock" Qualifying and $25 to-win heat races presented by FK Rod Ends.  The Sunoco Dash will set the beginning rows of the 30-lap feature lineups and will award the winner a $100 Sunoco fuel gift card.  The "Fill'er up with Sunoco Bucks" program will include an additional $400 of Sunoco fuel card giveaways each night; two $100 random draws for drivers in the top 15 of Tour points and another four $50 random draws for all other competitors.

Precise Racing Products will award a $50 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature each night.  The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid each night.  The feature winner each night will receive a 5-Gallon Race Jug from Precise.  Ontime Body & Graphic's "Spoiler Alert" will award a spoiler kit to the sixth place finisher on the first night, seventh place finisher on the second night, and the eighth place finisher on the third night (note: if a driver has already won a spoiler this season, spoiler will be awarded to the next position).  Performance Bodies will award a $100 gift card to the first non-qualifier each night part of the "Nosed Out" program.
