MASON ZEIGLER’S RICHEST CAREER PAYDAY COMES IN $20,000 “BILL EMIG MEMORIAL” PRESENTED BY SUNOCO FOR FLYNN’S TIRE/GUNTER’S HONEY TOUR AT LERNERVILLE; ALL-TIME RECORD HIGH 62 HOVIS RUSH LATE MODELS COMPETE

June 21, 2025               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Sarver, PA)... The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants took part in the 19th annual “Firecracker 100” with the “Bill Emig Memorial” presented by Sunoco Race Fuels with support from Joseph J. Oliva Attorney at Law and Seal-Tite Paving & Excavating for the seventh straight year at Lernerville Speedway.  Heavy rains washed out both Thursday and Friday night's programs setting up a huge one-day show on Saturday night.  An all-time Northeast Chevrolet Performance Crate Engine Late Model record high 62 teams from seven different states and Ontario, Canada turned out for the Flynn's Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series event that was also live on FloRacing and Dirt.TV.  A massive crowd filled the grandstands for the event, which also included the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in competition for $50,000 to-win.

Mason Zeigler has won on Super Late Model racing’s highest level with Lucas Oil and World of Outlaws.  In addition, Zeigler has victories at renowned tracks across the country along with high paying Modified wins, but none richer than Saturday night in a RUSH Late Model in the “Bill Emig Memorial” presented by Sunoco Race Fuels.

Zeigler passed Max Blair on lap 27 and fended off the challenges of Kyle Hardy and Dave Hess, Jr. to earn $20,000 and the right to stand in Landrum Performance Victory Lane with his $8,000 D&V Jewelers Championship Diamond Ring.  While it was a clean sweep of the night for Zeigler as he set fast time in FK Rod Ends Qualifying, won his heat race, and the Sunoco Dash, his feature win was far from easy as he had to regain the lead from Blair then fend off the challenges from Hardy- the 2021 Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour Champion and Hess- the event’s defending winner.

“It was a long night to say the least,” expressed the 32-year-old Chalk Hill, Pa. racer.  “We had no intentions of running the Lucas race but when it turned into a one-night/double features it was manageable.  We brought the other car up today and was able to run fifth in the Super Late Model event ($7,000) and to get the win in this is awesome!  I’ve come to this event three times and the more we race this crate car the more comfortable and confident I get.  We’ve broke two different times and weren’t able to get it done.”

“I really thought from watching earlier in the night we had the ability to walk away with this thing but that wasn’t the case,” Zeigler revealed.  “These guys were insanely fast and I had to get up on the wheel.  I was falling apart there for a while driving it in too deep and getting it sideways, but I was able to gather it up and get back in the groove.  I was putting the right rear over the cushion down there to get back by Max.  Hats off to those guys- they are the best in the industry.  Max nearly won the (Lucas) feature a bit ago so I knew he had a good package and whatever he did in the ‘super’ he was going to be applying to the crate.  Dave (Hess) won it last year so to be right here with these guys, all Super Late veterans is an awesome experience and very humbling.  We don’t get something like this (ring) in our sport; so, to have something like this is really special.  I love it and will keep it forever.”

Following the Dave Poske’s Performance “Feel the RUSH” 4-Wide Salute, Zeigler and Christian Schneider led the 25-car starting field to green for the 50-lap feature as Zeigler took off in the early lead, while Blair went fifth to second and Hardy was also able to get by Schneider for third.  Hess and Schneider were trading the fourth spot back and forth before a caution for a spin by 3C Graphix Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Zack Carley with three laps scored.

When racing resumed on lap four, Hess regained fourth from Schneider, but him and Hardy lost the lead duo of Zeigler and Blair as they pulled away from the pack.  Blair closed in on Zeigler on lap seven, but Zeigler was able to maintain his lead until lapped traffic came into play on lap 14 and the race for the lead really heated up.  Blair was quickly right on Zeigler’s tail and the two raced side-by-side on lap 15 with Blair nosing ahead for the lead.  Their battle and lapped traffic allowed Hardy to close in.  Zeigler and Hardy ran side-by-side for the runner-up spot on lap 18 and then it was three-wide for the lead on lap 20 as Blair managed to hold on.

Hardy now appeared to have the fastest car on the track as he passed Zeigler for second on lap 23 then raced side-by-side with Blair for the lead, but Zeigler didn’t go away as he got back up on the wheel and passed Hardy for second on lap 24.  Zeigler went to the outside and tracked down Blair and made the winning pass racing off the outside of turn four on lap 27.  Hardy then went after Blair and made the pass for second in lapped traffic on lap 31.

Zeigler opened up some breathing room by lap 33, while Hess entered the picture as he closed in on Blair and made the pass for third on lap 35.  A spin by Logan Zarin wasn’t what Hardy wanted to see with 39 laps scored.  When racing resumed on lap 40, Hess made the pass before a spin by Alex Ferree, who was subbing for Tour regular Braeden Dillinger.   Back under green on lap 41, Hardy continued to back-pedal losing third to sixth starting Joe Martin and fourth to Blair.  Blair would regain third from Martin for good on lap 46.

One-year ago, Hess tracked down Bryce Davis making the winning pass coming to the white flag to capture the event win.  Hess was hoping to repeat his fortunes with once again a dramatic late race pass for $20,000, but time wasn’t on his side.  Hess cut into the lead in the final laps, but Zeigler was able to hold on as he took the checkered flag first by 1.235 seconds and also received a beautiful custom-designed “Bill Emig Memorial” Championship trophy from Design Creations/DCi-Awards.  Zeigler’s second career Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Touring Series win came in his 2016 Rocket XRI, Roy's Body Shop/RBS Truck Collision/RBS Auto & Trailer Sales/Greenlane AI/Harris-Wamsley Enterprises/Deep Creek Docks/Madison Gas-sponsored #25z.

(Note: Zeigler’s engine was torn down in post-race tech and was found to be 100% legal per the Chevrolet Performance 604 Technical Manual.  The results will be official once the fuel and tire samples that were taken are verified to be in compliance.)

After finishes of 10th and 3rd in the Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series events in May at Stateline and Eriez, Hess recorded a RUSH Late Model season best of second worth $7,000.  “I think we were better off racing through lapped traffic,” explained the 40-year-old Waterford, Pa. standout.  “I like traffic because it mixes everything up.  It slows things up and you can move around and tends to play in our favor.  We were definitely good in the long runs, but was a little tight at the end.”

“I think the best car won though as Mason was good all night and I had a feeling he was going to be the car to beat,” added Hess.  “That was a lot of fun though.  The four of us were damn near touching each other a few times down the backstretch and it was getting pretty wild.  I was little worn out from that one- I don’t know how these guys also ran the 100 lapper.  Hopefully next year we can improve it by one (spot).  This is an awesome deal and thanks to everyone that puts this show on and plays a part- the whole RUSH team and Lernerville.”

Blair, who won $10,000 in 2019 and 2020 in the event and then $20,000 in 2023, earned $3,500 for third after a $10,000 third place effort as well with Lucas Oil.  Martin was an impressive fourth in his first RUSH Late Model race of 2025 and debut for Jonathan Stockdale.  Martin was subbing for Kyle Zimmerman, who built the car and is currently undergoing back surgery, and earned $3,000 plus a spoiler kit from Ontime Body & Graphic.  Hardy slipped to fifth at the finish for $2,000; however, his season’s best finish on the Tour allowed him to ascend to fourth in points.

The $20,000 defending Series Champion, Brock Pinkerous, made his first RUSH start of 2025 and came home sixth for $1,500.  Schneider dropped from his second starting spot to seventh for $1,300.  North Carolina’s Ethan Wilson, who made his first RUSH start since the 2022 event when he won the Non-Qualifier, was eighth for $1,200.  Jeremy Wonderling, who is chasing after an unprecedented fifth Tour title, was ninth for $1,100 and was able to maintain the points lead over Demetrios Drellos, who ironically was 10th.  It was Drellos’ first start in the event and his solid effort earned him $1,000 and kept him atop the 3C Graphix Rookie-of-the-Year standings.  Daryl Charlier, who won the last Tour event at Tri-City Raceway Park, went 24th to 11th to earn the $50 Precise Racing Products “Pedal Down” Hard Charger gift card.

For the second consecutive year, Damian Bidwell closed out the "Bill Emig Memorial" in Landrum Performance Springs Victory Lane by capturing the 15-lap D&V Jewelers Non-Qualifier presented by Close Racing Supply worth $500.  Despite starting sixth, Bidwell flew into the lead on a wild on opening lap over pole-sitter Jacob Whitt and Bud Watson before a caution was displayed.  The final 14 laps went caution-free as the 32-year-old Smethport, Pa. racer dominated and took the checkered flag first by a commanding 3.108 seconds aboard his Tri-County Tire/D&K Transport/Prestige Countertop/Bootes Construction/Safelite Auto Glass/Bidwell Transport/Hansen Racing/Jim's Auto/CRS/Yoder Toter/Tru-Form-sponsored #1/2-Pint.

Austin Hauser, who was the lucky recipient of the Two7 Manufacturing pit box valued at $3,000 through a random drawing of eligible RUSH drivers on Friday night, charged from 14th to finish 2nd after passing Whitt on lap 11.  Whitt, who won the Non-Qualifier at Lernerville during the 2024 Tour finale, dropped to third, but also received a $50 Holley Performance gift certificate and an AN Wrench Set from Jones Racing Products for being the first feature non-qualifier.  Watson and Ryan Hare were fourth and fifth respectively as Tour regulars took four of the top five finishing positions.

Zeigler earned $100 for setting fast time overall against the 62-car field in FK Rod Ends “Shock the Clock” Qualifying with a lap of 18.275.  Winning $25 FK Rod Ends heat races were Zeigler, Blair, Hardy, Hess, Martin, and Schneider.  Zeigler added yet another $100 cash and a $100 Sunoco fuel card for winning the “John Buzzard Memorial” Sunoco Dash.

The following drivers won Sunoco Fuel cards in the random drawings: Bud Watson ($100), Alex Ferree ($100), John Waters ($50), Leo Iarrapino ($50), Ashton Briggs ($50), and Noah Brunell ($50).  The Landrum Performance Springs BOGO certificates were captured by Zach Gunn, Nick Davis, Bidwell, Hare, and Bill Holmes III.

Special thanks to Close Racing Supply for adding $500 into the D&V Jewelers Non-Qualifier payoff and also numerous contributors that allowed many drivers that failed to qualify for the feature to share in more than $6,000 in valuable product giveaways (see listing below)!

The Flynn’s Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series will return to action July 3-4 for a West Virginia doubleheader.  Thursday night will feature a $4,000 to-win event at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne followed by Friday night in the first ever appearance at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington.  The rained-out May 24 event at The Dirt Track at Genesee will follow on Tuesday, July 22 part of the Genesee County Fair.
