FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Pulaski, PA)...The
premier event of the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Series
presented by Born2Run Lubricants, the “Bill Emig Memorial”, saw veteran Late
Model driver Mason Zeigler score the biggest payday of his career this past
weekend at Lernerville Speedway. John Mollick continued his dominance at Sharon
Speedway in RUSH Sprint Car action as he tallied win number three of the season
at the Ohio oval. Camron Kramer brought
and Cole Strickland brought home their first victories of the season in RUSH
Stock Car action, while Josh Wilcox and Steve Dixon won in RUSH Pro Mod
competition.
Hovis RUSH Late Model action at Woodhull Raceway on Saturday evening saw Rich
McNeal, Jr. and Jake Wilber lead the field to green.
Wilber jumped out to an early lead,
however a pair of cautions kept the field bunched up which allowed Brett
Marlatt, who started sixth, to work his way through the field to the second
position. Marlatt tried his best to get
by Wilber, but was unable to do so as the Hinsdale, NY resident went on to score
his first career win at Woodhull. It
was Wilber’s second of the year as he also picked up his first Bradford win
earlier this season. Defending City Chevrolet Track Pack Champion, Marlatt, held
on to the second spot with David Pangrazio in third.
Steve LeBarron and McNeal finished fourth
and fifth respectively.
Mother Nature tried her best to “wreak havoc” with Hovis Auto & Truck Supply
RUSH Dirt Late Model Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants as the “Bill Emig
Memorial” presented by Sunoco Race Fuels with support from Joseph J. Oliva
Attorney at Law and Seal-Tite Paving & Excavating was originally scheduled as a
three-day event but ended up as a huge one-day event at Lernerville Speedway as
part of the 19th annual “Firecracker 100”.
An all-time record high 62 teams
participated in the event with seven states and Canada represented in the
Flynn's Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series event.
Mason Zeigler and Christian Schneider led the 25-car field to the green.
Zeigler, who set the fast time in FK Rod Ends “Shock the Clock” Qualifying, won
his heat, and also the “John Buzzard Memorial” Sunoco Dash, immediately took the
lead. Zeigler led the first 14 laps;
however lapped traffic gave Max Blair the opportunity he needed to reel in
Zeigler and pass him for the top spot on lap 15. As Blair and Zeigler battled
side by side for the lead Kyle Hardy also began to close in. Zeigler and Hardy
ran side-by-side for the runner-up spot on lap 18 and then it was three-wide for
the lead on lap 20 as Blair managed to hold on.
Hardy passed Zeigler for second on lap 23 and then raced side-by-side with Blair
for the lead. A determined Zeigler passed
Hardy back for second on lap 24 and then used the outside of the speedway to
track down Blair. Zeigler then made the winning pass racing off the outside of
turn four on lap 27. Zeigler went on to lead the remainder of the event and
score the biggest payday of his career and his second Series victory.
Veteran Dave Hess, Jr., who was the winner of last year’s Bill Emig Memorial,
came home in the second position with Blair finishing in third. Joe Martin, who
was subbing for the injured Kyle Zimmerman, claimed fourth with Hardy getting
the fifth position.
Breyton Santee started on the pole and led the entire distance of the RUSH Late
Model main event Sunday evening at Eriez Speedway to score his second win of the
season at the Erie, PA oval. Sixth place
starter Jason Genco claimed the runner-up position to maintain his points in the
City Chevrolet Track Pack points with Jon Lee finishing third.
Logen Lockhart and City Chevrolet
National Weekly Series points leader Tom Snyder, Jr. rounded out the top five.
The
Hovis RUSH Sprint Car Series presented by Billy’s Garage was in action at Sharon
Speedway Saturday evening where a season high 24 cars signed in.
Zach Morrow and Arnie Kent led the field
to the green. Morrow led the first 11
circuits before Mollick took command. The 54-year-old veteran went on to lead
the remainder of the event to score his third win of the season and sixth in the
past seven races at the Hartford, OH oval. Arnie
Kent came home in second once again with Luke Mulichak third. Series points lead
Gale Ruth, Jr. claimed fourth with Morrow dropping to fifth.
A big thanks to Morrow, who donated a $3,000 pit box as a giveaway at
Lermerville the night before through his Two7 Manufacturing.
Austin Hauser was the lucky winner.
Hovis RUSH Pro Mod competitors began their weekend action at Stateline Speedway
on Saturday. Josh Wilcox scored his second victory of the season at the New York
track and third overall of the season over Vaughn Nystrom. Cody VanGuilder, Tim
Peterson, and Cody Rickard finished third through fifth, respectively.
Sunday evening the RUSH Pro Mod teams travelled to Bradford Speedway where Steve
Dixon tallied his second straight win at ¼-mile bullring.
Dixon and Josh Wilcox led the field to
the green with Dixon charging into the top spot and cruising to victory.
Wilcox, Ian DeGolier, Josh Canfield, and
Dean Ingalls finished in positions two through five.
The
Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Stock Car Division continues to grow and this past
weekend the teams were in action at both Stateline and Eriez Speedways. Camron
Kramer and Alex Bush led the 12-car field to the green. Kramer led the entire
distance of the 15-lap event to score win number one of the season over Darr
Diegelman. William Baker, Jr., Andy Michael, and Cole Strickland completed the
top five.
The
RUSH Stock Cars closed out the weekend at Eriez Speedway with Jamestown, New
York competitor Cole Strickland scoring his first win. Strickland became the
season’s ninth different winner in 11 races!
Kaden Michael, Blaze Harrison, Alex Bush, and Raiddan Wilson rounded out
the top five.
The
Dirt Track at Genesee saw the RUSH Late Models complete their heat races only to
get rained out with that feature to be made up.
Dog Hollow fell to Mother Nature. RUSH
Late Model competitors at Raceway 7, Georgetown, McKean County, Stateline,
Pittsburgh PA Motor, Tyler County, Winchester and Bradford Speedways had the
weekend off.
