SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODEL TOUR RETURNS TO ERIEZ SUNDAY FOR ANOTHER $2000 TO-WIN "MARQUEE" EVENT

By Mike Leone

July 21, 2016            FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Erie, PA)…After a busy week with a pair of Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series powered by Pace Performance events at non-weekly tracks, Expo and Ransomville Speedways, last week, the Series makes a return visit this Sunday (July 24) to Eriez Speedway, one of the Weekly Series member tracks.  It'll be the second and final appearance of the 2016 season at Bobby and Kathy Rohrer's racey 3/8-mile oval.

Bryce Davis leads the Series to Eriez as hot as the summer weather.  Davis has won three of the last four Tour events including three straight "Marquee" events with his first wins at Tri-City, Lernerville, and Ransomville and finished runner-up in the "Platinum" event last Wednesday in his first ever Expo start.  The Hornell, New York driver's earnings in the those four events have eclipsed the $7,000 mark and has propelled him into the point lead by four over fellow three-time winner and New York resident, John Waters.

Mike Pegher, Jr. was strong early on picking up a $2,000 win at Wayne County Speedway in early June, but has since fell off the pace and has slipped 23 points behind Davis in third place.  Just 16 points separates fourth through seventh in points with Jason Knowles leading Will Thomas III, Brian Knowles, and Dave Lyon as all four of those racers look for their first wins.

Another $2,000 pay day will await the 30-lap feature winner at Eriez.  Back on May 29, Rob Blair picked up the victory in his only start of the season as he swept the night setting fast time, winning his heat, the K&N dash, and leading the entire way in the feature.

Rob's son Max, the defending Sweeney Tour champion, has yet to make a start this season with the Touring Series; however, has been on a tear at Eriez of late as he's won all three features in the month of July giving him five on the season, and has moved into second in the overall Sweeney Weekly Series points.  The only other driver to win a Sweeney Weekly Series event this season at Eriez is Jason Genco, who has three wins.

"We have to thank the Rohrers for stepping up and giving us two $2,000 to-win Marquee Tour events this season," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig.  "Eriez is one of our strongest weekly car counts and their regulars are always tough against our Touring drivers.  Eriez has also done a tremendous job with their surface as it's received rave reviews week in and week out and the track has put on tremendous racing all year no matter what division."

Bobby Lake Motorsports "Shock the Clock Qualifying and Beat the Heat" will be utilized meaning the fastest qualifier will receive $100 and all heat race winners will earn $25.  The K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash will be run paying a $100 K&N certificate to win, $50 K&N certificate for second with $25 cash for third and fourth place.  The K&N Dash will also set the beginning of the 30-lap feature lineup for the top two finishers in the heat races if there are less than five heats or for the heat winners if there are five or more heats.

Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature.  The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase.

RUSH Officials will choose the "Maxima Performance" Award for a driver that exhibits a performance worthy of such.  The winner will receive a free case of either Maxima Semi-Syn High Performance Racing Oil or Maxima Performance Racing Oil of your choice.  In addition, the winner will receive one can of SC-1 clear coat, one 16-oz bottle of Maxima Cool-Aide concentrate, one 32-oz quart of Maxima PSF power steering fluid, and a Maxima t-shirt.  The value of this prize package is $170!

Also, CrateInsider.com will award a $25 gift certificate to the driver that finishes last on the lead lap at the finish.
