SWEENEY RUSH LM TOUR SHOWCASED WITH LUCAS OIL LM SERIES FRIDAY AT ROARING KNOB; $2000 TO-WIN PLUS TRAVEL MONEY & OTHER BONUSES
By Mike Leone

July 24, 2013                          FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series heads to the scenic Roaring Knob Motorsports Park this Friday night, July 26 for what was supposed to be the Series’ inaugural event back on April 19.  Night 1 of the two-night “Battle Down the National Pike” was rained out the night before the season got underway at Hagerstown Speedway.  RUSH will join again with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Friday night.  It’ll be a doubleheader weekend for Roaring Knob as they’ll also host Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series action on Saturday night.

Race #12 of the 25-event inaugural slate will be the second of five Tour events of 2013 at the Markleysburg, Pa. oval and will pay $2,000 to-win using the qualifying format.  The competitive Sweeney Touring Series has featured eight different winners in 11 events with Mike Pegher, Jr. and Max Blair being the only multiple winners!  The Bobby Lake Motorsports “Shock the Clock & Beat the Heat” Quick Cash Programs will be in effect.  The fast qualifier will receive $100, while the heat race winners will receive $25 cash.

With this now being leg number two of the “Battle Down the National Pike”, the $1,200 travel money that was put up for the Roaring Knob-Hagerstown weekend back in April will now be paid out.  The 10 highest finishing drivers from April 20 at Hagerstown that participate Friday night will receive $100!  There will also be two $100 random drawings from the remaining drivers that competed at both events.  All told, an additional $1,200 will be paid out in travel money!

“We have to thank Rick Jones for allowing us to again be part of this great event with Lucas Oil as well as Lisa Plessinger from Hagerstown for making the original scheduled weekend possible,” stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig.  “It’s always a big deal for the Series and for the racers to be able to race in front of large audiences on a national stage.  Rick really went above and beyond scheduling major events for our Series this year.  This will be a great show for the fans and it’s looking like the weather is going to be fantastic for Friday!”

Last Saturday’s Sharon runner-up, Mike Pegher, Jr., was able to extend his Sweeney Touring Series point lead to 26 points after Rick Singleton encountered several flat tires on his way to the speedway and never arrived.  Ryan Montgomery entered last Saturday as the Speedweek point leader, but got caught up in an accident and came back to finish 12th.  Montgomery heads to his home track on Friday night now runner-up in points.

Joe Martin, who is searching for his Series first win, is third in points despite getting caught up in another crash not of his doing.  Singleton dropped to fourth over Maryland “Futures Cup” racer Matt Glanden.  Canadian “Futures Cup” racer, Jorden Peters, is just eight points behind Glanden in sixth as Chad Ruhlman, Butch Lambert, Cody Dawson, Max Blair, Matt Latta, Glenn Elliott, Michael Lake, John Over, and John Holtgraver currently complete the top 15 points paying positions.

The second ARbodies “Nosed Out” nose kit giveaway will be held for the first driver not making the feature.  This is nearly a $250 value as well!  Russell Baird, Jr. won the prize earlier this year.

The K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash will be run awarding $100 K&N certificate for the win, $50 certificate for second with $25 cash to all other starters.  Friday’s K&N Dash will determine the beginning of the feature lineup.  There has yet to be a repeat winner in the 11 K&N Dashes run this season!  Glenn Elliott is the K&N point leader.

Other programs taking place will be the Precise Racing Products “Pedal Down Hard Charger” as the driver that passes the most cars in the feature will receive $100 Precise certificate.  RUSH Officials will choose The Brake Man “Tough Brake of the Night” as this driver will receive three
bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate good for either $50 off of a purchase of $100 or more or 20% off any The Brake Man purchase.

The “Wheelman” Bonus Event Challenge Series will be held for drivers failing to qualify for the feature.  And like the K&N Dash, there also hasn’t been a repeat non-qualifier winner this season!  Jamie Wrightsman is the current point leader.
