HOVIS RUSH RACING SERIES RECAPS FOR JULY 20 & JULY 27 WEEKENDS
By
Marcie Barlow
(Pulaski, PA)…Racing
action in the various Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH racing divisions has
continued at a torrid pace through the second half of July in spite of Mother
Nature’s continued efforts to rain on race day. Christian Schneider scored the
biggest victory of his career as he defeated the Series’ regular and captured
the 36th Annual Jook George Classic in the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late
Model Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
Motor Speedway. In addition, Jeremy Wonderling prevailed as the victory after a
great three-way battle for the top spot in the RUSH Late Model Flynn’s
Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series’ return to The Dirt Track at Genesee. Cody
VanGuilder tallied his career first victory in Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH
Pro-Mod action while Chas Wolbert continues to dominate Hovis Auto & Truck
Supply Sportsman Modified action. The RUSH Stock Car Division continues to grow
and become more competitive as Kaden Michael, Darr Diegelman, and William Baker
all tallying victories while Blaze Myers added to his win total in RUSH Sprint
Car action.
Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Model Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring
Series action returned to The Dirt Track at Genesee for the first time in more
than two years on July 22nd. Chad Homan and David Pangrazio led the field to the
green at the 1/3-mile oval with Homan going on to lead the first eight circuits
before Jeremy Wonderling took the top spot. Wonderling and Homan then distanced
themselves from the rest of the field before a Paul Grigsby spin on caused a
caution and set up a two-lap shootout to the finish. Wonderling, Homan and Kyle
Hardy then battled for the top spot, at times running three wide, for the final
two circuits. At the checkered flag it was Wonderling scoring the victory by a
mere.428 seconds over Homan. Hardy settled for third with Bryce Davis fourth and
Pangrazio finishing fifth.
Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Model Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Series
action then moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, July
26th for the 36th Annual Jook George Steel City Classic. Thirty-nine competitors
from five states were in attendance in spite of the threatening weather. Second
place starter Joe Martin led lap one with Jeremy Wonderling getting the top spot
on the second circuit. Wonderling led through lap six when Christian Schneider
made a four-wide pass for the lead on lap seven. Schneider went on to lead the
remainder of the 40-lap event to score his career first Tour victory and a
$6,010 paycheck. Martin held on to second with Jeremy Wonderling getting third.
Zach Gunn and Kyle Hardy completed the top five.
Billy Henry and Logan Stockdale led the RUSH Late Model field to the green on
July 18th at Raceway 7. Henry took the top spot and went on to score his first

Chess claiming third. Gary Youngs and Andy Michael completed the top five.
Kassidy Kamicker and Brodie Oravetz led the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late
Model field to the green on July 19th at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway,
but it was fourth place starter, Clinton Hersch, who would lead the first 14
circuits before a caution slowed the field. The caution gave last week’s winner,
Brandon Burgoon, the opportunity he needed to get by Hersch and go on to the
win. It was Burgoon’s second consecutive win at the speedway in Rick Hendrick
City Chevrolet RUSH Late Model Weekly Series action and his third of the season.

Wonderling to score a hard-fought win. John Waters, Brady Wonderling and Bill
Holmes finished third through fifth.

place this past weekend. Kurt Stebbins held off the challenges of Jeremy

and Leo McGurrin on the front row of the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH
Sportsman Modified main event. Wolbert immediately took the top spot and ran the
bottom groove of the speedway, while McGurrin used the top groove. A caution on
lap two gave McGurrin a second opportunity to challenge Wolbert however he was
unable to do so. Wolbert went on to lead the final 17 laps and score a 4.586
second victory over McGurrin, who was the bridesmaid for the second night in a
row. Kole Holden claimed third Jacob Rutana getting fourth and Darin Gallagher

Chamberlain. At the finish it was Dixon scoring the win with Josh Wilcox in
second and Tyler Oakes in third.

RUSH Sprint and Stock Car action at Tri-City Raceway Park that was scheduled for
Friday, July 18th so the division’s only event took place Saturday, July 19th at
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Wyatt Long and Luke Mulichak led the

score his third victory of the season at the Venango County track. Kramer held
on for second, followed by Darr Diegelman, Raiddan Wilson, and William Baker. In
the main event that was postponed from the prior week, Myers led all ten laps to
