BRYCE DAVIS BECOMES THE 7TH DIFFERENT WINNER IN 9 FLYNN’S TIRE/GUNTER’S HONEY TOUR EVENTS IN 2025 AS HIS $4,000 VICTORY COMES OVER A 42-CAR FIELD OF HOVIS RUSH LATE MODELS AT STATELINE

August 9, 2025               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Busti, NY)...After opening the 2025 campaign for the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Flynn's Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series at Stateline Speedway, the cars and stars of the Tour returned three months later on Saturday night for the second and final visit of the season to first year owner Bill Catania’s facility.  Back in May, an all-time Stateline record high 49 Chevrolet Performance Late Models from six states plus Ontario, Canada competed in the eighth annual “Bill Law Memorial”, while Saturday drew an impressive 42-car field!  For the first time in Series history, Empire State racers won every single event contested (13) during the night including two flights of qualifying, six heat races, the dash, twin B mains, the feature, and the non-qualifier!

Bryce Davis passed good friend and teammate, Austin Allen, to win the Sunoco Dash, which earned him the feature pole.  That pass proved to be crucial as Davis then proceeded to lead all 30 laps of the feature and kept a closing Allen at bay in the final laps in lapped traffic to become the season’s seventh different winner in nine races!  Ironically, it was the first win for Davis in one year almost exactly as the 2017 Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour Champion last won with the Series on August 7, 2024 at his home track, Woodhull Raceway.  Davis celebrated in the Landrum Performance Springs Victory Lane after earning the $4,000 payday.

“We really needed this after the disappointing run two weeks ago at Pittsburgh,” acknowledged the 34-year-old Canisteo, NY driver after not qualifying for the “Jook George Steel City Classic”.  “The car is back on track, we had a good run, my buddy and teammate finished second so we couldn’t ask for a better night.  We ran good down there last year, but were just missing something this year so I think this makes up for most of it.  I kept spinning my tires on the restarts on the bottom and they (Jeremy Wonderling and Allen) could stay with me and if they could make it stick going into (turn) one I thought I was going to be in trouble, but thankfully it worked out in my favor.  This Series is awesome; they pay well and treat all the racers fair and I couldn’t ask for any better tour than what you guys put on so this means a lot.”

Following the Dave Poske’s Performance Parts “Feel the RUSH” 4-Wide Salute, Davis raced into the early lead, while Jeremy Wonderling passed Allen for second as Allen, Demetrios Drellos, and Mike Wonderling filled out the first five.  Davis began to pull away from the field, while the battle was on for second as Jeremy Wonderling was trying to fend off Allen, and Drellos.  Lapped traffic came into play on lap eight, but a three-car accident slowed action for the first time after the eighth lap was scored.

Back under green on lap nine, it was three-wide for fourth with eighth starting Dave Hess, Jr. momentarily going sixth to fourth, but Drellos was able to get back by when they crossed the start-finish line.  Davis once again stretched out his lead on lap 11.  When Davis caught lapped traffic on lap 17, he had built up a lead of 2.764 seconds.

A caution for a spin by Canadian Craig Graham slowed action with 19 laps scored.  When green replaced yellow, Jeremy Wonderling and Allen made contact fighting for the same bit of race track entering the bottom of turn one with Wonderling spinning and collected Tour racers Jason Knowles, Brad Mesler, and Daryl Charlier along with former regular Brandt Graham.

The last 11 laps went green-to-checkered.  Davis caught lapped traffic for a third time of the event- this time with two laps to go.  Allen really closed in on the final lap, but ran out of time as Davis crossed the finish line first by just 0.591 seconds in the David Davis, Jr.-owned, Griswold's ETR Services/Davis Electric/Hubertus Services-sponsored #94 for his 13th career Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour win, but first ever at Stateline.

One-week after winning a City Chevrolet Weekly Series event at Stateline, Allen came home a career best Tour finish of second.  Allen was able to beat his prior best third place efforts last year at Stateline and this year at Ohio Valley and earned $2,000 for the sophomore Tour racer, who finished runner-up in the 2024 3C Graphix Rookie-of-the-Year standings.

“Jeremy (Wonderling) has helped me out a ton and I hate that that happened,” acknowledged the 28-year-old Canisteo, NY resident.  “That’s the worst thing and I hate to race like that.  I know it’s one-lane and the restart before that he left the lane open.  I thought he was going to do it again, but he came down and by the time I tried to react I was already in his left rear.  I hope he understands, if not, I get it.  The car was really good.  I saw Jeremy was on softs (tires) and I seen they were going away a little bit and I was hoping to time the restart just right and he could see me.  It’s the only thing I can think of right now and I just feel so bad.”

Drellos debuted a brand-new Rocket Chassis and ironically matched his best career Tour effort from opening night at Stateline with another third place to earn $1,000.  Drellos was able to maintain third place in points and the lead in the $3,000 to-win 3C Graphix Rookie-of-the-Year standings with his seventh top 10 in nine races.  Drellos joined Davis and Allen by receiving a three-pack of premium Heritage Wine Cellars product.

“This is the first night on this new car and we’re still trying to work out some new kinks to see what it likes,” revealed the 28-year-old Queensbury, NY standout.  “This place is so tough and if you’re a little bit off, you’re a lot off.  When we unloaded, we were 95% and we just kept working in the right direction and were pretty okay at the end.  I didn’t have anything for these guys (Davis and Allen), but we were still pretty good and pretty good is what we needed.  This class is so competive and so close.  We’re tenths of a second difference and one mistake and you’re fifth and you make another mistake and two guys go by you- especially here.  I love doing this and love racing with these guys; we have a lot of fun and are making new friends.  Dave Hess, Jr. is a legend here and I’m glad I was able to keep him behind me and if I made one mistake he was getting by me.”

Hess made it halfway to the front from his eighth starting spot with a fourth-place finish.  Jason Genco, who leads the City Chevrolet National Weekly Series points as well as the City Chevrolet Track Pack points at Stateline, gained two spots to finish fifth as he was the top Stateline regular.  Mike Wonderling matched his season’s best finish in sixth.  Jacob Wilber was seventh.  Track regular, David Parker, beat out the fellow #2 of Zack Carley for eighth.  Kyle Hardy went 17th to 10th to hold the runner-up spot in points and also received a spoiler kit from Ontime Body & Graphic.  West Virginia Tour regular, Ryan Hare, went 23rd to 12th for his best finish since a fifth on September 3, 2023 at his home track, Tyler County Speedway, and received a $50 gift card from Precise Racing Products for being the hard charger.

Randy Hall ended the night leading all 10 laps of the D&V Jewelers Non-Qualifier.  The 54-year-old Olean, NY driver earned $200 aboard the Donald Krug-owned, Future State Engineering/Suzzane's Sweets/Wesleyan Church of Little Valley/A&S Logging/Southern Tier Electric Supply-sponsored #87.  Hall became the amazing 85th different winner in 106 “Wheelman” Bonus Event Challenge Series events run all-time!  Scott Dellahoy, Jr. made his first Tour start in well over three years and finished second.  RUSH Late Model rookie, Austin Fitzgerald, passed Raymond Houser on lap eight to finish third.  Ninth starting Harry Halliday came home fourth after passing Houser on lap nine in his first Tour race in more than six years since last competing in the Quebec two-night swing!  Houser dropped to fifth.

Jeremy Wonderling became the 9th different driver in 10 races to set fast time overall in FK Rod Ends “Shock the Clock” Qualifying and earned $100 with a lap of 17.513.  Ironically, Davis set fast time in flight B qualifying with an identical 17.513, but Wonderling had the faster of two second laps to win the tiebreaker.  Jeremy Wonderling, Allen, Mike Wonderling, Davis, Drellos, and Wilber won the $25 FK Rod Ends heat races.

Davis became the 9th different Sunoco Dash winner in 10 races and earned a $100 Sunoco Fuel card.  Also receiving $100 Sunoco Fuel cards in random drawings were Tour racers Charlier and Hare, while the $50 Sunoco Fuel cards were won by Hardy, Brandt Graham, Ward Schell, and Steve Houser.  Landrum Performance Springs, which will award a $5,000 “Loyalty Bonus” later in the year to a lucky full-time Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series regular, distributed ‘buy one, get one’ spring certificates to Parker, Raymond Houser, Ben Easler, Hess, and Drellos.

The Flynn’s Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series will return to action on Sunday (August 10) at Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pa. for a $4,000 to-win event for “Manufacturers Night” presented by MSD Performance.  RUSH registration opens at 3 p.m. with the drivers meeting at 5:25 following by the manufacturer’s drawings.  Racing begins at 6:30 p.m.
