DOUBLEHEADER WITH TRI-CITY FRIDAY & TYLER COUNTY SUNDAY
By Mike Leone
August 26, 2025 FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Pulaski, PA)...The Hovis Auto & Truck
Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants is set for a
doubleheader of Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series action over the Labor
Day weekend. Race #12 of the 2025
season will be at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pa. part of the “Oil Region
Classic” on Friday night (August 29) followed by race #13 at Tyler County
Speedway in Middlebourne, WV part of the inaugural “Country Roads” on Sunday
night (August 31). Warmups will get
underway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night and 6 p.m. on Sunday night. Both events
will pay $4,000 to-win. The Cushion
will live stream the Tri-City event, while RUSH will be part of the Hunt the
Front TV broadcast for the first time ever at Tyler County!
Great weather is in the forecast for both Friday and Sunday
after last year’s Labor Day weekend events at both Tri-City and Tyler County
were rained out. In fact, all three
of the scheduled events at Tyler County in 2024 were lost to mother nature along
with the April 2025 show.
Ironically, Friday’s show will take place at one of the biggest tracks RUSH
races at with Tri-City’s half-mile, while Sunday will feature one of the
smallest at Tyler County’s quarter-mile bullring!
Tri-City’s program will include the “410” Sprint Cars, while the Super
Late Models will compete for $20,000 to-win on Sunday at Tyler County!
In May 2024, Tri-City hosted the return of the Flynn's
Tire/Gunter's Honey Tour event for the first time in six years! The event was
won by Brock Pinkerous, who celebrated his first career Tour win in Landrum
Performance Springs Victory Lane. Pinkerous went on to win the $20,000
championship. Back in May, Daryl Charlier ended a three-year winless drought
with a dominating performance.
The Flynn's Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series has made just
nine visits to Tri-City all-time with seven of them occurring from
2015-2018. Max Blair and Mike Pegher, Jr. each won a pair of events, while
single victories have gone to Bryce Davis, Jeremy Wonderling, Brady Wonderling,
Pinkerous, and Charlier.
Tyler County is in their fourth year under the RUSH banner
for its Chevrolet Performance Late Model class, but first with new promoters
Doug Doak and Scott Jenkins. Tyler County has completed nine RUSH Late Model
events in 2025. Track standout Kyle
Thomas leads the way with four victories including his first career Flynn’s
Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour victory on July 3.
Logan Reed is the only other multiple winner with two.
Other winners include George Casto III along with western Pa. racers
Braeden Dillinger and Christian Schneider.
A.J. Spagnuolo currently leads the $1,000 to-win City
Chevrolet Track Pack points at Tyler County.
Casto, who is second in points, leads the $500 to-win Russ King Racing
Futures Cup standings. Meanwhile,
Sunday is also part of the Dave Poske’s Performance Parts Mid-Ohio Valley
Series. Spagnuolo also leads those
points, but just 10 points separate the top four in points as Reed, Casto, and
Brian Nethers are in hot pursuit of the $2,000 title.
After Sunday, just two MOV events remain at Muskingum County Speedway.
Sunday will be just the fifth Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey
Tour event at Tyler County. Besides
Thomas, Blair has a pair of victories with Wonderling winning the other.
Jeremy Wonderling, who is in search of an unprecedented
fifth Series title, leads the Tour into the Labor Day weekend fresh off a
dominating performance not seen in many years as he won by nearly seven seconds
at McKean! The Wellsville, NY driver sits atop the standings by 44 over
Virginian, Kyle Hardy, who is still looking for his first Tour win of the
season. After a tough stretch,
Demetrios Drellos has recorded four top nine finishes in the last five events to
move back into third in points as he continues to lead the $3,000 to-win 3C
Graphix Rookie-of-the-Year points.
Second year Tour racer, Austin Allen, has three top five finishes in his last
five starts including a career best second at Stateline Speedway on August 9.
After a slow start to the year, Bryce Davis has reeled off three straight
top five finishes including a win at Stateline to move into fifth in points.
Fresh off his second runner-up finish of the season, Jason Knowles is
sixth. Ben Easler is tied for
seventh with 3C RoY candidate Zack Carley, who is coming off a season best third
at McKean.
Last year’s 3C RoY champion, Daryl Charlier, is ninth over
Mike Wonderling. Completing the top
15 in points paying positions are Austin Hauser, Bud Watson, Bill Holmes III,
Ryan Hare, and Brad Mesler. All 15
drivers have maintained 75% or more attendance and are all currently eligible
for the $5,000 Landrum Performance Springs “Loyalty Bonus” drawing at the season
ending event.
$100 "Shock the Clock" Qualifying and $25 to-win heat races
will be presented by FK Rod Ends. The Sunoco Dash will set the beginning
rows of the feature lineup and will award the winner a $100 Sunoco fuel gift
card. The "Fill'er up with Sunoco Bucks" program co-presented by Bazell
Race Fuels will include an additional $400 of Sunoco fuel card giveaways; two
$100 random draws for drivers in the top 15 in Tour points and another four $50
random draws for all other competitors.
Each night the podium finishers will each receive a three-pack of Heritage Wine
Cellars premier products. Precise Racing Products will award a $50 gift card for the
"Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature each night.
Ontime Body & Graphic's "Spoiler Alert" will award a spoiler kit to the 13th
place finisher on night one and the 14th place finisher on night two.
