(Hartford, OH)...After a weekend off, the Pace Performance RUSH Late Model Flynn's Tire/Born2Run Lubricants Touring Series event will return to Sharon Speedway this weekend (September 10-11) for the "Cider Jug 40" presented by Zarin Truck & Automotive along with an anonymous donor in support of Autism Awareness. Race #13 will be one of the biggest races of the season paying $4,000 to-win on Saturday night after qualifying, heat races, and the dash on Friday night. This will be a big weekend at Sharon for RUSH as the RUSH Sportsman Modified Hovis Touring Series will also take part as well as the RUSH Sprint Cars on Friday night. The RUSH Sprints will then move on to Raceway 7 on Saturday night in an $800 to-win Equipment Rental Options Weekly Series special.
For the first time since 2016, the RUSH Late Model Touring Series will be part of the "Apple Festival Nationals". Last year during the event, Max Blair picked up an $800 Weekly Series victory, which was the first RUSH Late Model race at Sharon since September 16, 2016. Then just two weeks ago, Chub Frank made a last lap pass of Joe Martin to win the $3,199 "Bill Forney Memorial" over a 33-car field; that event of course marked the first Tour event at Sharon since 2016 as well.
"We are coming off one of the best Tour events we've had in recent memory for the Bill Forney Memorial," expressed RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "The racing all night was great, and everyone is anxious to return. We have to thank Zarin Truck & Auto for their involvement along with an anonymous donor in support of Autism Awareness, which boosted the purse to $4,000 to-win, $300 to-start. Jim Zarin has done a lot for RUSH in recent years including the presenting sponsor of the Jook George Steel Classic and the co-presenting sponsor of the 'Fill'er up with Sunoco Bucks" program. Also thanks to Sharon for allowing the Tour to return twice this season and their yearlong support of the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds and RUSH Sprint Cars."
Virginia racer Kyle Hardy leads the Late Models Tour to Sharon with six victories with his most recent being on August 15 at Eriez Speedway when he topped a 46-car field for "Manufacturers Night". Hardy has a 75-point lead in the $12,000 to-win championship. Martin, a former regular at Sharon when the division ran weekly with five wins, has worked his way up to second in points thanks to nine top six finishes in the last 10 events. Defending and three-time Series champion, Jeremy Wonderling, is third in points with three wins, but has struggled of late with three straight finishes of seventh or worse.
Michael Duritsky, Jr. and J.J. Mazur are fourth and fifth in points in search of their first career Tour wins. Duritsky led much of the "Bill Forney Memorial" until contact with a lapped car resulted in a flat tire. 2016 RUSH Tour champion John Waters is sixth just six points behind Mazur. Bud Watson is coming off his season best Tour finish of eighth at Sharon and has broke the tie with Ryan Frazee for seventh in points. Frazee is eighth ahead of Kyle Lukon and Cory Sines, who has broke into the top 10 in points after a career best Tour finish of fifth at the last event.
FK Rod Ends will award $100 for the fastest overall Late Model qualifier and pay $25 to each heat race winner on Friday night. The Sunoco Dash winner on Friday night will not receive a $100 Sunoco gift card, but also earn the feature pole position. Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature. The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase.
The feature winner will receive a 5-Gallon Race Jug from Precise. Ontime Body & Graphic's "Spoiler Alert" will award a $150 spoiler kit to the 13th place finisher (note: if a driver has already won a spoiler this season, spoiler will be awarded to the next position).
One driver will be randomly selected at the drivers meeting for a $100 Sunoco gift card thanks to the "Fill'er up with Sunoco Bucks" program presented by Sunoco and Zarin Truck & Auto. Also, Performance Bodies will award a $100 gift card to the first non-qualifier as part of the "Nosed Out" program.
Even though the Sharon track points are wrapped up, the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will have a lot of points on the line this weekend. Not only is it an $800 to-win Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Touring Series event, but Hovis Weekly, Hovis "Futures Cup", and Wedge Motorsports "Route 7 Rumble" Series points will be up for grabs.
While Wolbert has a commanding lead in the $3,500 to-win Hovis Weekly Series Championship, Jacob Wolfe leads the Tour points by just six over Tony Tatgenhorst. Wolfe has a pair of runner-up finishes in the Expo and Sharon Tour events this season, and earlier this season picked up his first career feature win at Sharon. Brandon Ritchey, who hasn't finished worse than 11th at any Raceway 7 or Sharon race this season including seven top fives currently leads the "Route 7 Rumble" points by 15 over Kole Holden. Meanwhile, 14-year-old rookie Ben Easler is atop the "Futures Cup" standings.
RUSH Sportsman Modified contingencies include the Precise Racing Products "Pedal Down" Hard Charger, Sherwood Wheels "Man of Steel", and TBM Brakes "Tough Brake of the Night".
The RUSH Sprint Cars will compete in a full show on Friday night at Sharon for $600 to-win part of the Equipment Rental Options Weekly Series Championship. After veteran Rod George won the Sharon opener, it's been a season of streaks as Nolan Groves won two straight followed by two for Chad Ruhlman, and most recently a pair for seven-time "410" Sprint track champion Jarod Larson.
The RUSH Sprints will then move on to Raceway 7 on Saturday night for a rescheduled event this time paying a record $800 to-win, $160 to-start. This will be just the third appearance all-time at the Conneaut, Ohio oval as Ruhlman won the 2019 show with Larson winning in 2020.
Ruhlman, who is a two-time $5,000 RUSH Weekly Series Champion, is again leading the points, but only by four over Gale Ruth, Jr. Amazingly, Ruth, who has seven wins this season on the RUSH circuit and 13 in his career, has still never won at Sharon nor Raceway 7 and hopes to change that this weekend.

The Late Model entry fee is $100, while the Sportsman Mod entry fee is $35. AMB/MyLaps transponders will be used; Westhold transponders will NOT work. Units are available to rent for $25. Driver radio channel will be 454.000.
Pits will open on Friday at 3 p.m.; there will be no access prior. A drivers meeting will be held at 5:50 p.m. on Friday with warm-ups at approximately 6:15 followed by group qualifying and racing. Trailers are permitted to stay in the pits overnight Friday. On Saturday, pit passes will go on sale at 3 p.m. A drivers meeting will be held at 5:50 p.m. with racing at 7.
