PACE PERFORMANCE RUSH SERIES CLOSELY MONITORING COVID-19 PANDEMIC SITUATION; 2020 SEASON CONTINUES TO BE ON PAUSE

May 11, 2020             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)...Heading into March, the Pace Performance RUSH Racing Series together with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC was gearing up for what was poised to be a record breaking season across all divisions; however, an unprecedented situation developed as the COVID-19 pandemic spread throughout the world.

Series Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone had scheduled RUSH-sanctioned events for 2020 at more than 20 different speedways throughout seven states (PA, OH, WV, NY, MD, VA, and DE) amongst the Late Model, Sprint Car, Sportsman Modified, Pro Mod, Karting, and Asphalt divisions in 2020.  RUSH Directors continue to monitor the ever changing situation on a daily basis in hopes to return to racing in the near future.  The Series must be cognizant of each individual state's mandates concerning COVID-19.

"This is an extremely fluid situation from our perspective as we sanction so many events in different states," explained Emig.  "It's certainly going to put a whole new perspective on our season when it begins as it has affected every moving piece of the Series including our speedways, sponsors, and teams.  With that said, we hope that when racing does resume everyone greatly supports our tracks and sponsors."

Over the past several weeks, RUSH's focus has been to support its sanctioned race tracks as they're facing trying times in so many respects.  RUSH was part of the advisory group put together by the United States Motorsports Association that included several industry leaders that helped develop a COVID-19 tool kit for speedways that includes a Race Resumption Plan, Best Practices, templates, and more.  The tool kit and much more is available on the USMA webpage at  www.unitedstatesmotorsports.com.

RUSH went one step further and recently hosted a Zoom meeting with sanctioned track promoters to review the USMA COVID-19 information and network.  USMA representative Robert Johnson and motorsports attorney, Ken McGuire, also took part to answer any questions.  Several RUSH promoters representing five states took part in the two-hour meeting.

Going forward, RUSH hopes everyone stays healthy and safe, and will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation.  RUSH will inform drivers/owners of any pertinent information.  Those with questions or concerns, can contact the RUSH Office at 724-964-9300 or e-mail [email protected].
