SWEENEY RUSH DIRT LATE MODEL SERIES REGIONAL MEETINGS INFORMATIVE & SUCCESSFUL

By Mike Leone

January 7, 2013                      FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series wrapped up its preseason informational meetings for the upcoming inaugural 2013 racing season this past weekend (January 4-6).  The three meetings held at Rock n’ Ricks (Limestone, NY), Town & Country (New Castle, PA), and the North Union Twp. Rec. Center (Uniontown, PA) were very successful.

Over 200 people attended the meetings, which included racers, track promoters, engine rebuilders, tech officials, and others interested in the Sweeney Buick GMC RUSH Series.  Series Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone welcomed the attendees, and went over RUSH’s vision and the many programs that are being offered.

NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series Founder Mike Vaughn and Competition Director Tim Sims spoke about the alliance that has been formed between the two series under the Crate Racin’ USA banner.  Discussions also took place concerning their strong teching program that will be infused into the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Series, and the support will be providing to RUSH’s technical staff.

Various rules were discussed and after conversations with promoters and racers, the previously posted weight, spoiler, and carburetor rules were modified to come into line with what Crate Late Model racers in the Northeast in the past were accustomed to.

“We really have to thank everyone for their support and participation in these meetings,” explained Emig.  “The turnout and interest in the Series was tremendous.  We received a lot of positive feedback and are now anticipating the start of the new season.  We are very pleased to see that it looks like the region will once again have a lot of new Crate Late Model racers, and it continues to be refreshing to see more new young blood getting into the Series.”

Many drivers took advantage of the Sweeny Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Series Charter Membership offer that features a 10% discount on the membership fees (Weekly and Touring) for life.  The offer will continue through January 31, 2013.  Several drivers also are anxious to take advantage of the $100 savings on a Sweeney GM 604 engine by being one of the first 10 to purchase an engine that are RUSH members.  The offer also applies with $100 off of a GM 602 engine and $200 off of a CT 525.

Thanks to good friend and statistician Rich Berry, one free membership was drawn at each meeting for all attending drivers/owners.  The winners were new racer Clint Haskins on Friday, and car owners Terry Hoover and Denny Angelicchio on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

“We’d be remised if we didn’t thank Mike and Tim for making the trip up from the south,” stated Leone.  “I think they clearly showed everyone how much they are behind us and the support they will offer as we move forward.  They truly enjoyed meeting the racers, promoters, officials, and rebuilders.  It’s also exciting know that several Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Series racers will be participating in the NeSmith Winternational events at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida at the end of the month.”

Meanwhile, the 2013 Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring Series schedule continues to near completion, and is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
