November 15, 2017                  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series powered by Pace Performance held its fourth annual Authorized Engine Rebuilder/Repair Facility Seminar on Saturday (November 11) at the Hampton Inn & Suites Grove City (PA).  Attendance to this meeting was "mandated" for those facilities authorized to rebuild engines for the RUSH Late Models, Sprint Cars, Sportsman Modifieds, Pro Mods, Pro Stocks, and Asphalt Series.  Nineteen different engine facilities were represented as attendees came from five states plus three rebuilders from Ontario, Canada.

The seminar started at 11 a.m. and continued until nearly 5 p.m. with a break for lunch.  Sweeney RUSH Series Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone organized the meeting; however, a panel led the seminar including RUSH Competition Director Travis Harry, Sweeney/Pace Performance Circle Track Director Don Blackshear, and authorized engine rebuilder Mike Ingram.

Gene Jones of Maxima Racing Oils once again was a guest special.  Maxima has been the “Official Oil of the RUSH Racing Series” for the past three seasons plus presents the "Maximum Performance" Award at each dirt Late Model and Sportsman Modified Touring Series event.

General topics included the rebuilders hand guide, sealing process, along with the teching and teardown procedures focusing around the mandated GM 604 and 602 crate engines.  Other topics of discussion included awareness of responsibilities of the authorized rebuilders to the Series and its racers, the utilization of networking amongst their rebuilder peers and Series officials, the importance of understanding and staying true to the GM Technical Manual, and  specifics related to the engine protest and Series confiscation procedure.

“There is no question that that the integrity of any healthy crate racing series lies in its teching and rebuild programs," stated Emig.  "With that said, it’s our belief to mandate attendance for  those that are authorized to rebuild or repair GM crate engines that will be competing throughout our region under the RUSH banner.  This meeting is an intricate part of the RUSH system that has helps us to keep the competition level as strong as it is throughout the Series. We have to thank all of our Authorized Rebuilders for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend; many traveled several hundred miles each way to attend."

"We're all a team, from the racers to the Series officials, to the Authorized Rebuild/Repair Facilities," said RUSH competition director Travis Harry.  "It's great that we can all gather in one location annually to review things to ensure that everyone stays on the same page.  Some of the newer authorized rebuilders and one that's interested in becoming a rebuilder had the opportunity to interact with some of those that have been involved for several years in a much more relaxed environment than at the race track.  It also gives all of us the opportunity to speak face-to-face with those we that we talk to throughout the year via phone, e-mail or brief encounters at the speedway."

Engine facilities represented included the following: 955 Automotive, Brougher’s Machine Shop, C.Smith Machineshop, C.J. Rombold Engine, Cams Racing Engines, Conklin Racing Engines, Empson Automotive, Hendren Racing Engines, Ingram Engines, Jennerstown Engine Technologies, Luke’s Auto Machine, Marty Brown Race Engines, Race 1, and Workman Automotive Machine.

Two other rebuilders were excused for health related issues, while one other had a prior commitment.  These rebuilders will be versed and caught up to speed by the Series and at another rebuilder that was in attendance in order to be re-authorized.

The next event for the Sweeney RUSH Series will be the annual awards banquet and dinner on Saturday, January 20, held at Gatherings Banquet & Event Center in Edinburg, Pa.  Ticket order forms will be available in December.
