July 3, 2015               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)...Despite what’s seemed like a quick spring and early summer with all of the rainouts region-wide, July is here and that means the Pace Performance “Summer Chase” is underway for the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series.  The $10,050 program, which will award $3,000 to the champion, runs from July through Labor Day.

Eighty-nine drivers made the cut by being in the top 10 of the RUSH member points at one of the 12 Sweeney Weekly Series speedways or by being in the top 10 of the Insinger/Sunoco Northern Touring Series points or top 10 of the Bazell/Sunoco Southern Touring Series points.  John Waters kicked the program off on Thursday night winning over a solid field of cars at New York’s Freedom Motorsports Park in a Sweeney Weekly Series event.

Eligible drivers can compete in as many RUSH-sanctioned events from now through Labor Day; however, drivers must compete in a minimum of six events through this period to be eligible for the top 10 point fund payoff.  Also, if a driver is a member of the Touring Series only, then only Tour races will count for the program.  The normal Sweeney Weekly Series point system is used; however, the other difference is that drivers’ average point finish will be utilized during this period.  This has no bearing on the Sweeney Weekly Series points that will continue through the month of September.  Past Pace “Summer Chase” champions include Max Blair in 2013 and Rick Singleton in 2014.

“We have to thank Pace Performance and all of our great weekly-sanctioned speedways for their support to continue this additional program we offer to our racers,” explained RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig.  “The program allows additional racers the ability to take home money at the end of the season rather than just one Weekly Series point fund.  It also gives racers additional incentive to support the speedways and travel around to better their points later in the summer when car counts typically wane.”
