June 27, 2017            FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…With July among us, that means it's time for the Pace Performance "Summer Chase" to kickoff for the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series.  Not only will the drivers listed below be eligible for the $10,050 point fund, but they'll also be part of the drawing to win a certificate valued at $7,500 towards the purchase of a 2018 Rocket XR1 Chassis, Stage 2!

Drivers qualified for the Pace "Summer Chase" by being in the top 10 of  RUSH weekly-sanctioned track member points or Sweeney Touring Series points through last weekend.  Eligible drivers then can compete in as many events as they wish from June 29 through September 4.  Drivers must compete in a minimum of six events during the time frame to be eligible.  The change in 2017 will see drivers awarded 0.5 of a point for every race competed in over the minimum requirement of six.  These points will be added to each driver's overall average point score.

"We made this tweak based on feedback from promoters and racers," explained Series Director Vicki Emig.  "The goal of the Summer Chase was always to encourage drivers to race and support RUSH-sanctioned tracks during the later summer months when car counts typically decline.  We don't want to see drivers have more incentive to sit on their average and not compete; however, we also have to balance drivers in some areas that don't have the opportunity to race as much.  Also typically over the years, drivers that raced a lot were more apt to have a lower average so we feel by awarding a half-point for every race a driver runs over six will take away the concerns some of our promoters and racers had."

2017 Pace "Summer Chase" Point Fund ($10,050): 1. $3,000  2. $1,500  3. $1,000  4. $800  5. $750  6. $700  7. $650  8. $600  9. $550  10. $500.

For the second year in a row, the Shinnston, West Virginia-based Rocket Chassis will once again give away the single most valuable product contingency prize ever in the history of the Series.  Last year, Jason Genco and car owner Jason Badgley were the lucky recipient, and are currently having success with the car.  Qualified drivers will receive one chance per every RUSH event they compete at during the "Summer Chase".  The drawing will be held in victory lane at the completion of the Sweeney Tour feature event at Lernerville Speedway's "Steel City Stampede" on October 14.

In addition, Rocket will again offer a $500 gift certificate at "Manufacturers Night" presented by MSD Performance on Sunday, August 20 at Tri-City Raceway Park

"We want to thank Mark Richards and Steve Baker of Rocket Chassis for continuing their involvement with RUSH," stated Series Co-Director Vicki Emig.  "To be able to award one of our RUSH racers a certificate valued at $7,500 towards the purchase of a Stage 2 2018 Rocket XR1 chassis is simply amazing!  Couple that with the fact that Rocket Chassis is the chassis of choice throughout our Series and there is no doubt that RUSH racers from Canada to southern Maryland and everywhere in between will be greatly anticipating this drawing at the grand finale of our season!"

In order to redeem the certificate, a racer must purchase a 2018 Rocket XR1 Chassis, Stage 2 package that is valued at over $23,000, less the $7,500 certificate.  The car must be assembled by Rocket Chassis at their place of business in Shinnston, West Virginia.  The certificate has no expiration date and is transferable to another eligible 2017 RUSH "Summer Chase" driver if the recipient would choose to do so.

"Mark Richards and Steve Baker have really given the RUSH 'Summer Chase' racers a tremendous opportunity to compete for one of the most sought after chassis in our industry," stated Emig.  "I cannot tell you how much it means to us to have Rocket Chassis participate at the level they do with RUSH.  It's a very generous way for them to show their appreciation of our competitors and our style of grassroots racing, and we cannot thank them enough.  I know RUSH member racers of all levels are going to be extremely excited to know they have the very same opportunity as their fellow racers to win this valuable certificate, as will our RUSH sanctioned promoters, as it gives added incentive for racers to support their speedways."

The final piece of the "Summer Chase" is in coordination with the "Track Pack Bonus" program.  Drivers in third, fifth, and seventh in RUSH member points at each weekly-sanctioned speedway at the end of June 25 will receive a $100 Pace/Sweeney gift card.  More information on this will be forthcoming in another press release.
