JEREMY WONDERLING FENDS OFF FELLOW EMPIRE STATE RACER JOHN WATERS AT GENESEE TO WIN HIS 2ND PACE RUSH LATE MODEL FLYNN’S TIRE/BORN2RUN LUBRICANTS TOUR RACE IN THE PAST 3 RACES

By Mike Leone May 29, 2021

(Batavia, NY)...After all day and night rain on Friday washed out the “Gary Montgomery Memorial” at Outlaw Speedway for the Pace Performance RUSH Late Model Series together with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, the rain finally ended 24 hours after it started allowing Genesee Speedway to be one of the few tracks in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to be able to race on Saturday night. The event marked the first of three appearances by the Flynn’s Tire/Born2Run Lubricants Touring Series to the 1/3-mile Genesee County Fairgrounds oval in 2021. Despite the weather in the surrounding areas, 28 teams were on hand, which has now been the count for the past three Tour events at Genesee matching the highest Tour count all-time for the Batavia, New York track.

Kyle Hardy had laid down the gauntlet down by sweeping all three “Battle of the Bay” Speedweek events in his home area, the Mid-Atlantic, to open the season; however, since returning home, Jeremy Wonderling has begun to tighten things up. On Saturday night, Wonderling passed Joe Martin on lap 10 and then fended off 2016 Tour champion, John Waters, during the second half of the race to capture his second straight Genesee Tour victory, worth $2,000. The defending and three-time Tour champion has now won two of the last three events to go along with a runner-up finish.

By Mike Leone May 16, 2021

(Erie, PA)...One month after a successful “Battle of the Bay” Speedweek, the Pace Performance RUSH Dirt Late Model Series together with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC resumed action on Saturday night for the season’s only appearance at Stateline Speedway located just across the Pennsylvania border in Busti, NY. The “Bill Law Memorial” marked just the fourth appearance by the Flynn’s Tire/Born2Run Lubricants Tour at Stateline, and the 43-car turnout was a high watermark for the track shattering the prior record of 33 set at the 2019 show. Law was a huge supporter of racing in the region and helped kick-start the racing career of his grandson, Kyle Murray, who currently competes in a RUSH Late Model.

Jeremy Wonderling has never been a regular at Stateline Speedway, but you sure would never know it. The defending and three-time Touring Series Champion won his heat race, the Sunoco Dash, and completely dominated the 30-lap caution-free feature for his third “Bill Law Memorial” victory in four tries at Stateline. The $2,000 win was Wonderling’s first in 2021 RUSH competition and propelled him from sixth to third in Tour points in his run for an unprecedented fourth straight title.

By Mike Leone April 17, 2021

(Winchester, VA)...The Pace Performance RUSH Dirt Late Model Series together with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC finished out the third annual “Battle of the Bay” Speedweek on Saturday night at Winchester Speedway. The northern Virginia high-banked track hosted their first Flynn’s Tire/Born2Run Lubricants Touring Series event since the 2019 “Battle of the Bay” event. Forty-one cars from six different states turned out for the finale, which continued the streak of at least 40 cars for all 10 “Battle of the Bay” Speedweek events in the three-year history. A total of 60 different drivers competed over the three completed events of this year’s “Battle of the Bay”.

Kyle Hardy has come out of the box swinging in his first year of RUSH Late Model racing. Prior to the “Battle of the Bay”, Hardy already won all three Weekly Series events at Winchester and had runner-up finishes at Georgetown and Potomac to take the early lead in the National Weekly Series Championship. By Mike Leone April 15, 2021

Hardy entered the weekend as the Pace Performance National Weekly Series point leader thanks to three victories and a pair of runner-up finishes.

On Thursday night, Hardy out-dueled the all-time winningest RUSH Tour driver, Max Blair, to capture his first career Flynn’s Tire/Born2Run Lubricants Tour victory.
